New Beginnings

I love working with the Young Women in our church, but it is sure a lot of work! Here is the latest --

We had our New Beginnings last week (not planned by me) and it was fantastic. The theme for the whole youth program this year is "Be strong and of a good courage..." and we took that "Be" idea and ran with it.

We used a Valentine's theme and had a large picture of Christ with a heart that said "Be Mine". We had placed photos of each girl on a heart on the wall. For the program, each of the presidency spoke about an aspect of Young Women's that we wanted the girls to work on this year.
2nd counselor's was "Be Better" focusing on personal progress. She introduced each value and had an older girl come up and talk about her project for that value and how it had helped her. She also had a game where the audience raced to write down all 6 of President Hinckley's "Be's". Then I spoke on "Be Active" and introduced the year's calendar. I put little bees under 3 chairs and those who were sitting there won a prize. (If you weren't here you would have missed out.) And then our president spoke about "Be Modest" which was a beautiful, powerful, and needed message. We taught the girls the new song, "Be Strong" which they sang beautifully.

We had a guessing game for conversation hearts and m&ms. Here are our winners.
Our dessert was chocolate and cheese fondue and the girls all got a little goodie bag to take home.
New Beehives (12 year old girls who just entered the program) got a chocolate rose and were spotlighted.
